This website titled www.open.net.in is the official website of the Instructional Material Preparation and Research Team (IMPART) inaugurated on 14^th September 2000 by the then Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India Shri L.K. Advani for strengthening the cause of instructional material preparation, development and training besides translation of the study materials in different Indian as well as foreign languages with a view to minimizing the wastage in education and duplication of efforts.  

The main idea behind the inception of “Instructional Material Preparation and Research Team (IMPART)” is to have an international platform for ensuring self-instructional material preparation, development and training besides researching on the multi-lingual and multi-media instructional texts in print as well as electronic format for the benefit of the students, researchers, policymakers, bureaucrats, social scientist, activists, planners, executers etc.
